Do not be anxious...even about November 8th.

My Dear Wormwood, Be sure that the patient remains completely fixated on politics. Arguments, political gossip, and obsessing on the faults of people they have never met serves as an excellent distraction from advancing in personal virtue, character, and the things the patient can control. Make sure to keep the patient in a constant state of angst, frustration, and general disdain towards the rest of the human race in order to avoid any kind of charity or inner peace from further developing. Ensure the patient continues to believe that the problem is “out there” in the “broken system” rather than recognizing there is a problem with himself. Keep up the good work, Uncle Screwtape. — “Screwtape Letters” by C.S. Lewis ~1942.  (A fiction book of one demon coaching another demon on how to keep the Christian from honoring God and advancing Gods kingdom.)

Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Philippians 4:6

Too many times in my life I have wrung my hands worried about the future. But I have decided I will not sit around on Tuesday, November 8 fearful and anxious. Instead, I will seek His perfect peace in prayer! Please join me on November 8 for a day of prayer for renewal in the Church of America. We will not be praying for a Christian nation to "revive" or a  specific outcome of the election. We will be praying for the invisible and visible church, Catholic, Protestants, nondenominational, everyone who has repented and calls Jesus Christ Lord to be the light of the world and the city on a hill that can not be hidden.
*
We will be praying for God's bride to be holy. We will pray for the Church to be distributors of hope and people from which joy overflows. We will pray that the church will move her hands and feet on behalf of the poor and hurt.  We will ask God to help the church to fight for justice and righteousness. We will pray for the church to be full of love and grace even if mistreated. We will ask God to fill us with his Spirit so no matter the outcome of this election we will say I TRUST IN HIM and our mission has not changed.

The family of God all over the world honors Christ even in the darkest of places, does not the same Spirit of God live them that lives in us? In these dark places owning a Bible could have you shot by a firing squad. In these places, those who don't convert are subject to crucifixion. In these places, you see burnt homes and business if they call Jesus Lord.  If the church of God can be a shining city on a hill in this kind of darkness why are we afraid of this election?

I refuse to be afraid and anxious with God on my side!! I refuse to be distracted from what God wants to teach me through this election.  Please join me on November 8 as I lead us through a day to pray for the church in America. I will post on Instagram and Facebook a photo, scripture and prayer every hour on the hour from 9 am-9pm EST.  I will have all the prayers posted in advance on my website early in the morning on www.rachbaxter.com under the 12 prayers blog. All you need is a few minutes each hour to stop and pray to participate.  Please tag your friends and invite them to join us in this day of prayer.
